Services

I always start with a consultation visit to understand what you want for your puppy or dog and from there I will create a plan that suits you and your dog in order to achieve best possible results.

Pre-pet Awareness

Here we go through all things you need to consider before getting a pet in order to make the transition and experience the best possible.

This might include adopting a rescue dog or thinking about buying a puppy.

There are many things to consider in order to make the right decisions and prepare for the arrival of the new family member.

These include breed research, time needed, lifetime costs, puppy-proofing, the initial first weeks, exercise needs, dog training, and being part of a family.

Puppy Training (<6 Months)

Our goal is to have a happy, calm, well-rounded puppy for the rest of its life. In the beginning, that perfect pup will come with some growing pains: nipping, chewing, potty accidents, barking, and more.

Your puppy will grow and develop quickly. Once they’ve been home for a couple of weeks, your puppy should know the basics of a daily routine and be working on some obedience training, and learning basic commands.

This preparation begins in the early stages of the puppy’s development so that issues, later on, can be avoided because proper training and manners are taught. The age of the puppy will determine what type of training is needed.

In general, the following topics are covered in multiple sessions:

  • House breaking
  • Recall – come, touch
  • Correct holding of the leash, and walking
  • How to successfully socialize your puppy
  • The benefits of crate training
  • Gate and door control
  • Walking to heel / loose leash

  • Accustoming your puppy to being handled
  • Diet and good food manners
  • Sit, stay and down training
  • Distance control (staying with you when there are distractions)
  • Bad behavior management and prevention e.g. jumping up, mouthing, play biting and chewing

Obedience Training

Owner participation training

(number of lessons will depend on what commands are requested to be taught).

Owner participation lessons are a flexible and fantastic solution for owners who want to be fully engaged with training their dog. I will demonstrate training techniques and work with both of you to achieve the following:

  • Walking on a loose lead
  • Sit
  • Stay
  • Touch
  • Leave it
  • Home manners
  • Dog training commands and techniques for owners…and more!
  • Heel
  • Down
  • Place
  • Come
  • Drop it
  • Social skills

Obedience training only with Alex

I can take care of training your dog if you have a busy schedule and don’t have time to participate. This can be done in the comfort of your home or at my premises. Here I can cover the most common commands in order for you to have a well-behaved dog.

I’m happy to work on specific goals you may have, which I can discuss further with you during your training consultation. Once I have established what commands the owner wishes the dog to learn, we can decide on single lessons or a package.

Problem-Solving Workshops

Specialized problem-solving workshops cover behavior modification. In order to establish what the issue is a meeting with the owner and dog will take place in order to make a bespoke plan to ensure the best results. The most common issues are:

  • Nipping
  • Barking
  • Resource guarding
  • Anxiety
  • Reactivity
  • Destructiveness
  • Pulling
  • Jumping

Virtual Training

Regardless of where you are, I can have remote sessions for owners using Zoom. Many of the different trainings can be done via Zoom.

Dog Show Training / Conformation

Dog show training is a very specific type of training. Here we go through all aspects of what is included in a dog show: what is expected in the ring such as gaiting, stacking and judge handling. I also inform how to prepare for the day; and what equipment is needed.

I also offer to be a handler for the dog during a dog show.

Price depends on the scope of requirements from the owner.
